The Host Vs. The Host

The Host Movie Review

I saw the first showing of the Host when it came out. Here's my review on it comparing to the book.

For me, the movie was good. On a 5 star rating, I'd give it a three or four.  I read the book a couple years ago and reread it once I heard the book was being made into a movie. The cameras, setting, and actor choices were great along with the acting, but the plot seemed rushed to me. Out of all of the movies that are being made into part one and part two, The Host should have been added to that list. To me, I felt like big sections of the book were cut out and sections were rushed. I know that for producing a movie things have to be changed, but I felt that parts went a little bit too fast.  Now, I also went along with my Mom and Sister who have not read the book. They enjoyed the movie and the only complaint they had was the length and that it got a little long after a while.
Overall, The Host will not be added to my favorite adaptions of books into movies, but it's far from the worst. The acting was great and the setting was gorgeous.

How To Make a Cork-board Frame

This how to was orignally posted on my model horse blog here....

How To Make a Cork-board Frame

Tools of the Trade:

Cork board
Frame in the size you want
Glue
Scissors

1) First you need a regular frame.
2) Take it apart.
3)These are the only parts you need. You just need the frame and the back.

4) Next measure and cut. You want the piece of cork board to be the same size as the back.
5) Now just put the piece of cork board in first, then stick the back in and fasten it. Done! Now you have a cool looking Cork Board Frame.

How I rate books, or attempt to

Stars, numbers, lists. There's so many different ways to rate a book. Here's how I do it, or try to. I always have a ton of respect to anyone who is able to finish a novel and have it published, so even if the book was not on the great side, I will always try my very very best to find something good about it.  I never like being told something I did was horrendous, so I want to pass along that thought by trying to do critical positive reviews. Hopefully that's possible! :)

I use a five star system

5 stars- means the books was perfect, everything was good. Recommend it to everyone.
4 stars - A must read. Books should be read because it's one you won't want to miss.
3 stars- Not bad, not good. Right amount of push to keep reading.
2 stars-Ok, nothing special about it.
1 star- Poorly written, not good, something that you have to force yourself to finish.

For some books they'll be given 1/2 . It isn't usual but some are given it because they're in the middle of 2 stars.

Welcome!

Testing one...two...three. Testing one...two..three.
Good. All equipment checked. Ready to go.

Hi, my name is Kristian Beverly and I love crafts and writing, oh and reading too! I'm currently a student in High School, living in the grand 'ole state of Pennsylvania  I've been doing crafts and writing since I was able to use my fingers to draw and tinker with artsy type of things, and writing since I could put little pictures or letters on a page. For reading, well that started when I could read stories.
I do all types of crafts, ranging from miniatures to making collages.
I also have a love for making things for my model horses, but I won't clutter here up with that! That can be seen on my other blog, Five Paws Studio.
For 2d types of art, I have won a couple of rewards in a couple of competitions. Overall I like to do whatever hits my fancy. If it be 3D so be it, if 2D cool, and so on.
For writing, I've been doing so since I was small, but it hasn't been until a couple of years ago that I really tried to learn the 'craft'. Since then I completed NaNoWrimo in November of 2012 and am currently trying to finish Camp NaNoWrimo for April 2013.
I absolutely love to read and basically read anything. Although, horse and teen books are my favorite. Actually, you could say in general that I love horses.
My love of reading and stories are also why I love watching TV and movies. Even though I have a long list of favorites, I can easily put down The Walking Dead, Glee, and Falling Skies as my favorite along with Family Guy. For movies, I can't even  begin listing my favorites, so I'm not going to even try.
Well that's enough of my ramblings, so hopefully you enjoy this blog!
